She has performed with the world’s most venerated conductors, musicians, and ensembles and is renowned not only for her virtuosity but also for her spontaneous and lively performances, famously telling The New York Times, “I firmly believe every program should have its own life, and be a representation of how I feel at the moment.”

Wang nació en el seno de una familia de músicos y comenzó a estudiar piano los 6 años. Recibió formación avanzada en Canadá y en el Curtis Institute of Music con Gary Graffman. Su salto a la fama internacional se produjo en el 2007, cuando sustituyó a Martha Argerich como solista de la Boston Symphony Orchestra. Dos años más tarde, firmó un contrato en exclusiva con Deutsche Grammophon y, desde entonces, se ha consolidado entre los artistas más destacados del mundo con una sucesión de actuaciones y álbumes aclamados por la crítica. Recent ventures include a collaborative project with the late David Hockney at London’s Lightroom, play-direct tours with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra to Europe and South America, an international duo recital tour with pianist Víkingur Ólafsson, and a residency with the New York Philharmonic.

Yuja Wang opened the 2025/26 seasons of many major US orchestras, including the San Francisco Symphony and The Philadelphia Orchestra. At Carnegie Hall’s opening gala, she play-directed the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1. Among her orchestral performances, she embarked on a major European tour with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Other orchestral appearances last season included performances with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, and Rotterdam Philharmonic. Her play-directing continued on tours with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra to Spain and the US, and she gave a recital tour throughout Asia. In November 2025, Playing with Fire: An Immersive Odyssey with Yuja Wang opened at the Paris Philharmonie. This groundbreaking multisensory installation took visitors behind the scenes and offered a rare perspective on the emotion and artistry behind Wang’s performances.
